Senior Project Engineer – San Francisco, CA

S.S. Papadopulos and Associates, Inc. As Senior Project Engineer with S.S. Papadopulos & Associates, Inc. as part of our downtown San Francisco office, you will be able to make a difference in our company by contributing to - or leading - an interesting array of environmental projects. From protecting and remediating groundwater, to remediating properties for future use, you will make a personal and significant impact on our success while benefiting communities. Apply your engineering and management skills to real-life problems and make your mark as an experienced professional by crafting innovative solutions to improve soil and groundwater quality.  As an integral part of the project team you will be directly responsible for the following areas:

  • Serve as technical leader for remediation and assessment projects.
  • Manage project staff and coordinate GIS and CAD staff and contractors
  • Develop strategies and work scope to satisfy client and project needs.
  • Understand compliance permits and monitoring requirements necessary to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Assure project quality, budget, schedule, and deliverables.
  • Review and clarify reports and deliverables.
  • Manage internal and external due dates.
  • Provide substantial expertise in remedial design, project economics, life-cycle cost estimations, contaminant studies, remedial feasibility studies and preparation of design documents.


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, and advanced degree in civil or chemical engineering preferred. 
  • Licensed Professional Engineer, preferably in California.
  • At least 7 years of soil, groundwater and soil vapor intrusion remediation experience, and 10 years of engineering experience. 
  • Experience in preparing detailed designs and bid documents, construction oversight and O&M of remediation systems.
  • Familiarity with CERCLA, RCRA and California regulations for remediation and disposal. 
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training. 
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and ArcGIS and managing graphics work flow.
