S.S. Papadopulos and Associates, Inc. (SSP&A) supports a paid internship program in our Bethesda, MD office (less than 10 miles from Washington DC). For over 15 years SSP&A has worked with cooperative education and internship programs in schools across the U.S. and Canada to provide real-world experience to students and to foster an interest in hydrologic sciences and environmental remediation. SSP&A is an internationally recognized firm that has provided specialized services in water resources and environmental consulting since 1979. Our work includes the investigation and remediation of groundwater and soil contamination, regional aquifer analysis and water supply development, and computer modeling of hydrologic systems. View the Projects section of our website for examples of some of the projects we have worked on and follow the links below for results of some of the projects students have worked on in the past.
- Graham Stonebridge - Paper presented at the 2011 MODFLOW and More Conference
- Max Ren - Paper submitted to the University of Waterloo Faculty of Mathematics 2014
- Declan McCarthy - Poster presented at the 2015 Geologic Society of America Conference
- Maggie Wood - Web presentation 2015
Interns assist senior personnel in the interpretation of geochemical and/or hydrologic data related to remediation and water resource investigations. Tasks will include compilation, analysis, and display (including GIS) of temporal and spatial data. In addition, interns with an interest in hydrogeology will be exposed to a variety of analytical and numerical models for the simulation of groundwater flow and solute transport. Interns participate fully in on-going projects. Prior experience is not required as the student will be actively mentored, but an interest in hydrology or geochemistry is desirable.
If you are interested in an internship position, please contact Gretchen MacNeill, firstname.lastname@example.org, for details on how to apply.
