S.S. Papadopulos & Associates, Inc. (SSP&A) is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team.

About the Position

SSP&A is currently looking for a high-impact Sr. Accountant to assist our Controller with our financial operations in our headquarters in Rockville, Maryland. This is a full-time position, hybrid after six months of employment.

Job Description

• Monitor and prepare quarterly and annual financial statements (convert from cash basis to accrual conforming with GAAP)
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Monthly bank reconciliations (including foreign transactions)
• Manage accounts receivable
• Manage fixed assets on Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting Fixed Asset CS software.
• Prepare and run bi-weekly payroll with Paychex Flex
• Prepare and submit multi-state personal property tax returns
• Manage GSA contract and update SAM
• Review and approve vendor/project contracts
• Assist external accounting firm with multi-state quarterly and annual tax returns
• Assist controller with human resource efforts as well as other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

• Experienced: 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Deep understanding of GAAP, financial regulations, and tax compliance.
• Unanet A/E Experience: Advanced hands-on experience with Unanet AE or similar accounting AE software. You understand how to optimize the system for project-based professional services.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong command of SQL for data querying and reporting. You aren't afraid to dive into the database to find the "why" behind the numbers. Advanced Excel skills.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ethics: High level of integrity and confidentiality regarding financial and employee data.
• Credentialed: A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
