PEST.cloud – Calibrate your model in the Microsoft Azure cloud
In collaboration with Dr. John Doherty, SSP&A developed a web-based cloud computing application to facilitate the calibration of models using PEST on the Microsoft Azure Cloud platform. This application simplifies the creation of compute nodes on the cloud and uploading and distribution of model and PEST files to the nodes. Embedded tools allow users to check the progress of PEST runs and to stop execution at any time. Results are packaged and made easy to download.
PEST.cloud streamlines the calibration of models using PEST_HP on the Microsoft Azure infrastructure. The platform allows users to upload their model files in a compressed zip format, select the number of compute agents, and deploy the calibration process in the cloud. PEST.cloud automatically manages file transfers, virtual machine setup, and execution of the calibration, while providing real-time monitoring and cost estimation based on model complexity, runtime, and the number of compute agents selected.
The service offers flexibility in deployment with different memory configurations to suit various model requirements. Users can review outputs in real time or download them for further analysis. PEST.cloud charges based on the actual compute resources used, with transparent pricing that includes a minimum cost and options to set a maximum spend limit. This makes it a powerful tool for efficiently running parameter estimation models at scale, especially for complex scenarios requiring substantial computational resources.
